Brighten Your Smile with Professional Teeth Whitening

There’s a significant difference between whitening your teeth with a store-bought strip and having it done professionally — and most patients who’ve tried both will tell you there’s no comparison. At Greenlee Dental, we offer three professional-grade whitening options for Oklahoma City and Nichols Hills patients: GLO® in-office whitening, KöR® deep whitening for stubborn stains, and Icon® resin infiltration for white spot removal. Each one is more effective, more comfortable, and longer-lasting than anything available over the counter. Whether you want a noticeably brighter smile before a big event or you’ve been dealing with discoloration that hasn’t responded to at-home treatments, Dr. Greenlee will assess your teeth and recommend the right approach for your specific situation.

What Is Teeth Whitening?

Professional teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that uses clinically proven whitening agents to break down and remove stains from the surface of your teeth and within the enamel itself. Unlike store-bought products that use low concentrations of whitening ingredients to minimize liability, professional whitening systems use stronger, dentist-supervised formulations that produce real, visible results — often several shades whiter in a single session. At Greenlee Dental, whitening is always preceded by a quick assessment of your teeth and gums to make sure you’re a good candidate and that the treatment will be safe and effective for you specifically.

GLO® In-Office Teeth Whitening

GLO® whitening is our go-to in-office whitening treatment for patients who want fast, significant results in a single appointment. The GLO system uses a patented combination of warming heat and light energy to accelerate the whitening process, delivering results that typically take multiple at-home treatments to achieve — in about an hour in our Oklahoma City office. The specially designed GLO mouthpiece ensures the whitening gel is applied evenly across all your teeth and that you stay comfortable throughout the process. Dr. Greenlee oversees every in-office whitening treatment to make sure you get the best possible result without compromising your gum health or enamel. We also offer GLO take-home kits for patients who prefer a more gradual approach or want to maintain their results between visits.

Icon® White Spot Treatment

White spots on teeth are one of the most common cosmetic concerns we see — and one of the most overlooked. These chalky, opaque patches are caused by areas of demineralization in the enamel and are often the result of early cavity formation, fluorosis, or post-orthodontic treatment. Traditional whitening doesn’t fix them. Veneers cover them. Icon® treats them. Icon® uses a resin infiltration technique to fill the microscopic pores in the demineralized enamel with a material that has similar optical properties to healthy tooth structure. Once cured, the treated area blends into the surrounding tooth, and the white spot essentially disappears. The procedure is completely non-invasive — no drilling, no anesthesia — and is completed in a single visit. Results are immediate and long-lasting, making Icon® one of the most effective single-visit cosmetic treatments we offer. If you’ve got white spots that have been bothering you, this is worth a conversation. Many patients who’ve resigned themselves to living with them don’t realize a simple, painless solution exists.

KöR® Deep Teeth Whitening

KöR® whitening is the system we recommend for patients with deep, stubborn stains that haven’t responded well to other whitening treatments — including tetracycline staining, severe age-related discoloration, and staining from fluorosis. It’s one of the most powerful professional whitening systems available and is known for producing dramatic results even in cases that other systems can’t address. The KöR system works by using refrigerated whitening gels that maintain their potency longer than standard whitening agents, combined with custom-fitted trays that seal the gel against the teeth and minimize saliva contamination — the main reason standard whitening gels lose effectiveness quickly. The result is oxygen penetrating deeper into the enamel and breaking down stain molecules at a level typical whitening can’t reach. KöR treatment involves a combination of in-office sessions and at-home tray use, and it’s particularly well-suited for patients with sensitivity concerns — the system includes a desensitizing protocol that makes the process comfortable even for patients who’ve had sensitivity issues with whitening in the past.

Why Choose Professional Teeth Whitening?

Are You a Candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Most adults with healthy teeth and gums are good candidates for professional teeth whitening. The treatment works best on extrinsic stains — the kind caused by coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco use, and general aging. It also works well on mild to moderate intrinsic staining within the enamel.

Whitening is less effective on restorations like crowns, veneers, and bonding — those materials don’t respond to bleaching agents. If you have existing restorations in visible areas, Dr. Greenlee will factor that into her recommendation so your results look even and natural.

Patients with significant white spots, deep tetracycline staining, or severe discoloration may be better served by Icon® or KöR® treatment rather than standard whitening — both of which we offer right here in our Oklahoma City office. The best way to find out what’s right for your teeth is a quick consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Teeth Whitening in Oklahoma City

Yes — professional teeth whitening is safe when performed or supervised by a dental professional. At Greenlee Dental, we assess your teeth and gums before starting any whitening treatment to make sure you’re a good candidate. We use clinically proven whitening systems — GLO®, KöR®, and Icon® — and take steps to protect your gum tissue throughout the process. Sensitivity after whitening is common but temporary; if you’re prone to sensitivity, ask about our KöR® protocol, which includes a built-in desensitizing component.

It depends on the treatment and your habits. GLO® in-office whitening results typically last 1–3 years with good maintenance — avoiding heavy staining foods and drinks, brushing regularly, and doing occasional touch-up treatments. KöR® results are considered permanent for the baseline whitening achieved, though some maintenance is still recommended over time. Icon® white spot treatment results are long-lasting and in many cases permanent. Dr. Greenlee will give you realistic expectations for your specific treatment and teeth at your consultation.

Not all stains respond equally to whitening. Extrinsic stains — surface discoloration from coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco — respond very well to GLO® and KöR® whitening. Intrinsic stains within the enamel can be treated with KöR® deep whitening. White spots caused by demineralization respond best to Icon® resin infiltration, not traditional whitening. Staining on crowns, veneers, or bonding won’t respond to bleaching at all — those materials are colorfast. Dr. Greenlee will identify what type of discoloration you have and match you to the right treatment rather than putting you through a whitening treatment that won’t address your specific issue.

When done correctly under professional supervision, no. The whitening systems we use at Greenlee Dental are formulated to be safe for tooth enamel. Over-whitening — using high concentrations too frequently — can cause temporary sensitivity and in extreme cases affect enamel integrity, but this is not a risk with properly supervised professional treatment. We’ll advise you on appropriate frequency and maintenance to keep your teeth healthy throughout and after whitening.

Cost varies depending on which whitening treatment you choose. GLO® in-office whitening, Icon® white spot treatment, and KöR® deep whitening are each priced differently based on the complexity and time involved. We’ll give you a clear, specific cost breakdown at your consultation before any treatment begins — no surprises. We also offer flexible payment options to make cosmetic care more accessible. Teeth whitening is one of the most cost-effective cosmetic dental treatments available, especially compared to what most patients expect it to cost.

Yes — sensitivity doesn’t automatically disqualify you from whitening. KöR® whitening in particular was designed with sensitivity in mind and includes a desensitizing protocol that makes it a great option for patients who’ve had uncomfortable experiences with whitening in the past. For milder sensitivity, we can adjust the concentration and exposure time of GLO® treatment or recommend a take-home option with a lower concentration for a more gradual approach. Let us know about your sensitivity during your consultation and we’ll build the treatment around it.
